DR. Martin Luther King Day Celebration
Trinity Methodist Church (285 East 5th Street)
In the memory of Reverend and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Chico honored the work of Dr. King and promoted peace through several events at the Trinity Methodist Church. The day started with a community-building activity facilitated by Diane Suzuki of Beyond Violence Alliance, followed by the annual candlelight march. A celebration to honor Dr. King then took place in the sanctuary featuring several local choirs. An address by Sr. Roseanne Murphy about the life of Sister Dorothy Stang, who was murdered in Anapu in the Amazon Basin of Brazil February 12, 2005, likened the Sr. Dorothy's work to Reverend King's work.
