Downtown Plaza in Chico

Featuring community-created GIANT Puppets, CPJC sponsored a downtown peace rally and puppet pageant. The theme of this gathering, and of the giant puppets, was "Alternative Uses for a Trillion War Dollars". We decided it is time we focus on what we do want, as we already know what we don't want.
The day's schedule included:
11am - Puppet-making for kids
12pm - Funeral procession for those killed
1pm - Puppet pageant
2:30 - Closing with a Spiral Dance
The intention for this gethering was threefold: 1) to reemphasize our opposition to the war in Iraq, 2) to honor soldiers and civilians who have paid the price for the US invasion, and 3) to explore alternatives to war.
What can we accomplish if the hundreds of billions of dollars being spent on the war were put to humane uses? We imagined and began to manifest our future.
