With the passage of Proposition 8, making discrimination constitutional, many people are upset and hurt by the decision of their neighobors to outlaw their love. In solidarity with actions around the country, we gathered at Downtown Plaza, stood proudly and proclaimed "Our Families Count, Too".

Families and friends gathered in opposition to the passage of Proposition 8. The event included speakers, music, and tabling to protest the rewriting of the California Constitution legalizing discrimination towards same-sex couples, and to honor community. This event was organized by the Butte County Families for Equality in solidarity with the Chico Peace and Justice Center.

A march traveled from the Plaza, circled the Saturday Farmers' Market and returned to the Plaza for a final address and "next steps".

This event happen at the same time as events around the nation, coordination happening through the organization "Join the Impact" (www.jointheimpact.com).
