 <p>Our Health Care System is beyond broken or sick.&nbsp\;&nbsp\; It&rsquo\;s dumb.&nbsp\; We spend more than twice as much per capita than most developed countries\, the taxpayer is already paying for 60% of the total bill\, and\, by any measure of public health\, our results are poor.</p>
 <p>Over a hundred people gathered to learn about the <strong>myths and realities of single-payer healthcare</strong>.&nbsp\; We also gained skills to effectively lobby elected officials to establish a sustainable and universal healthcare system.</p>
 <p>During this daylong conference\, we discussed the current state of the US healthcare system\, compared our system to other systems around the world\, and gained an understanding of a proven alternative.<strong><br />

 <p>The documentary\, &quot\;Delta Force\,&quot\; by Glenn Ellis was made in 1995\, in response to the murder and execution of Ken Saro-Wiwa\, an activist for MOSOP (Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People)\, who was falsely charged by the Nigerian government for murder. However\, the truth of this story is a wake-up call to the methods and business ethics of oil companies such as the Royal-Dutch Shell oil company and many others who colluded with the corrupt Nigerian military government to secure their business interests at the cost of human lives and the environment. A group discussion followed the film. </p>
 <p>Warning\: Scenes of violence and disturbing images.<br />
 Donations will be accepted for the Center for Constitutional Rights and EarthRights International\, who are putting the Shell oil company on trial in May 26th\, 2009.</p>

 <p>The California Supreme Court announced its decision regarding the legality of the Proposition 8 vote\, stating that the process for changing the California Constitution was legal...in order words\, the ban on same-sex marriage stands.<br />
 Over 200 people gathered to mourn and to protest this decision.&nbsp\; And\, we began thinking about what we need to do next.&nbsp\; Stay tuned.</p>

 <p>Sue\, Lisa and Paul hung out in Madison\, WI&nbsp\;with Robert Redford\, Amy Goodman\, Rev. Jesse Jackson\, Senator Russ Feingold\, Representative Tammy Baldwin\, Howard Zinn\, Cindy Sheehan\, Jim Hightower\, Barbara Ehrenreich\, Katrina vanden Heuvel\, Chuck D\, Senator George McGovern\, John Nichols\, Robert McChesney\, Matthew Rothschild\, &hellip\;and many more!&nbsp\; We discussed these topics and what we can do here in Chico to move the Progessive agenda forward.</p>
