Topic of talk: Liberian Children of War Challenge Age Old Concepts of Peace
Liberian human rights journalist, editor, poet and peace educator Marvin Davis discussed his experience working with over 3,000 war-torn children in his home country. Davis works to educate theses children about the root cause of violence so they can free themselves from their prejudicial, conditioned thinking that created the 15 year civil conflict.
Marvin Davis is the author of the internationally acclaimed book Brave New Child, Liberating the Children of Liberia ─ and the World. During the war as a human rights editor Marvin Davis had to flee Liberia to save his life. After the rebels killed his father, and fearing a worse civil war out of the ashes of the last, Marvin felt compelled to return to Liberia.
For teachers, peace workers, counselors, social workers, parents and students
