Assemblyman Dan Logue's office
The California State Legislature is tasked with solving another budget crisis. This year they need to reduce spending or increase revenue by $19 billion. The Governor and the minority party is demanding a cuts-only strategy. This strategy would require the complete elimination of many state programs that assist children, people living in poverty, the elderly and the disabled. Programs on the chopping block include Healthy Families and CalWORKS.
A rally, sponsored by the Northern California State Budget Alliance, to tell Assemblyman Dan Logue to increase revenue (using any one of the many ideas by Lenny Goldberg) took place at his office. People gathered at around 8:45 with signs and a delegation of citizens met with Logue's staff and we passed on our message to 1) Protect and create jobs 2) Preserve the social safety net, and 3) Identify more sources of revenue.
