Educational Workshop for Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Wednesday, April 20th at 6pm
Chico Peace and Justice Center
In partnership with Rape Crisis Intervention in Chico for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we offered an education workshop to shed light on this dark topic.
Yvonne Loomis, of Rape Crisis Intervention, conducted the workshop. She explains, "Education does not allow the scope of sexual abuse, nor its devastating effects, to remain hidden in the cellar way over in the shadows. Education yanks it out, shakes it out and then we have the first step toward making change. "
The workshop included information on statistics, definitions, laws, dynamics of abuse, child abuse, victims, perpetrators, effects, services and more. This workshop was for all audiences especially people that are interested in identifying the signs of abuse.
