
On Sept. 9, CSU, Chico Professor of Finance Richard Ponarul spoke on "Economics Myths and Realities in the Post 9/11 World."
On Sept. 16, a panel discussion took place on the topic "Empire or Republic: The Impact of 9/11 on American Foreign and Domestic Policy." Participating educators included Butte College history professor Jeffery Crawford, CSU, Chico emeriti political science professors Beau Grosscup and William Stewart and CSU, Chico history professor Kate Transchel.
On Sept. 23, two lectures were be given on the topic "Why We Need a New 9/11 Independent Investigation." Lecturers were be Richard Gage, founder of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, and David Ray Griffin, Claremont Graduate School professor emeritus of theology.
On Sept. 30, a panel discussion was held on the topic "Post 9/11: How the Aftermath Affects Our Community." Participants were community representatives Andy Holcombe, Leslie Johnson, Brad Montgomery, Dr. Tim Roy and Ali Sarsour.
In addition, the Peace Institute held a video series the first Thursday of the month September through December and February through April. The videos were be shown from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Selvester’s Café-by-the-Creek. The showings were free and open to the public. Topics of videos included 9/11, militarism, veterans’ issues, various views on the economy and our changing values. Discussions will follow the showings.
On Sept. 1, “Plunder: the Crime of our Time,” directed by Danny Schechter, was be shown as the first video in the series.
