BEYOND VIOLENCE ALLIANCE PRESENTS: "Exploring the Roots of Violence" Monday 7-9pm, November 26th Community Collaborative for Youth (925 Cedar Street) "Exploring the Roots of Violence" was a transformative experience that planted seeds of awareness of who we each are and how we relate in our culture and society. The workshop provided opportunities for authentic communication out of which grew compassion and respect for others and self. Beyond Violence, Alliance seeked to provide a working model for the possibilities of a culture of peace. The facilitator was Diane Suzuki, Coordinator of Beyond Violence Alliance. Need more info? FAIR TRADE SIDEWALK SALE!
Friday, November 23rd Giant sidewalk sale kicked-off CPJC Fair Trade holiday initiative. On the busiest shopping day of the year, shoppers and supporters of fair trade skipped the big box stores and shopped at the center. Frosty the "Fair Trade Snowman" was available to answer questions about the economic, political and environmental benefits of shopping fair trade. Fair Trade chocolate and coffee was available all day.
The CPJC is a one-stop shopping center for the holidays, featuring Fair Trade items from around the world. We offer a unique array of gifts for adults and children and you can be sure you are a part of a global movement to end oppressive and unjust labor practices. Fair Trade items include musical instruments, candles and soaps, jams and chutneys, coffee and cocoa, jewelry, books and much more!

"NO WAR ON IRAN" - SANAZ MESHKINPOUR SPEAKS OUT Tuesday, November 20th at 7PM
Chico Peace and Justice Center Sanaz Meshkinpour speaks out against military intervention and sanctions in Iran. An Iranian-American activist, Sanaz has family in Iran, Israel and the US - she regularly visits friends and family in Iran. Fair Trade Events Friday, November 2 Rachel Morones Black spoke to the Chico Hauvrah, in the Chico Congregational Church 1190 East First Avenue. There were Certified Fair Trade items on display and some even placed orders for purchase at a later date. |
