Children's Playground at 1st Street and Broadway


Manu folks joined Street Peace in front of Children's Playground in downtown Chico adding their voices to the millions around the world in opposition to the war in Iraq.




BEYOND VIOLENCE ALLIANCE PRESENTS: "Exploring the Roots of Violence"

Community Collaborative for Youth (925 Cedar Street)


"Exploring the Roots of Violence" was a transformative experience that planted seeds of awareness of who we each are and how we relate in our culture and society. The workshop provided opportunities for authentic communication out of which grows compassion and respect for others and self. Beyond Violence Alliance seeks to provide a working model for the possibilities of a culture of peace. The facilitator is Diane Suzuki, Coordinator of Beyond Violence Alliance.

ARMY OF NONE: Strategies to Counter Military Recruitment, End War, and Build a Better World

Aimee Allison and David Solnit were in Chico discussing their book, Army of None. This counter recruitment and antiwar book, written by Army veteran Allison and global justice organizer Solnit, exposes the real story behind the military recruitment complex, and offers guides, tools, and resources for education, action, and people power strategies to win.

Rachel Morones Black spoke during the mission moment about Fair Trade to the Congregation of the United Church of Christ Congregational Church. The Fair Trade items were sold after the Sunday service.
